Why do you need an illuminated viewer, for use when viewing prints, proofs and even objects like packs and props?
GTI PDV 2 in useAmbient studio, office and printroom lighting and the viewing of calibrated monitor displays, prints and proofs - and even objects - is, after display calibration, one of the most important, but seldom properly considered, parts of the colour management jigsaw. Prints, proofs and objects such as products and garments may have significantly different appearance under varying light sources. Consistent Industry Standard illumination is the answer.
The image here shows a small lightbox / light booth right alongside a user's screen, in these circumstances I would recommend a much bigger gap, or, even better, as colour management guru Bruce Fraser suggested, site the lightbox so you have to turn 90 degrees in your seat to look at it.

GTI CVX-30106FSIndustry Standard lightbooth manufacturer, Graphic Technology, also known as GTI, is my favoured supplier for this sector. Alongside their well respected high-end print industry equipment (right) and supply of colour balanced tubes for sensitive environmental lighting, GTI also offer good quality compact desktop viewers.
GTI have a wide product range and I am happy to talk with you about any of their models, featured here are those of most interest to Graphic Arts industry users: Desktop systems include the PDV e series Professional Desktop Viewers, Intensity Adjustable Softproofing Systems and Multi Lightsource Viewers. These print, proof and object viewers provide Imaging Industry Standard colour viewing conditions.  More options below.

I also supply GTI standard grey paints and proper colour accurate GTI "Graphiclite 100 Colour Viewing Lamps", with or without fittings for computer rooms and working areas. Many customers enjoy the benefits of a simple colour balanced room light as a first step towards "correct colour viewing" at a very reasonable price.

GTI Munsell Grey Paintstandard grey neutral vinyl latex paint

Standard Grey Neutral 7 and 8 are water-reducible vinyl latex paints, N7 is for use in colour viewing areas which require Munsell N7/ grey surround as specified by ASTM D1729-2009. Available in gallons or pints.

Now, prepare new colour viewing facilities or refurbish old ones with the industry-specified neutral matte grey specifically formulated for colour viewing areas. Standard Grey Neutral 7 or Standard Grey Neutral 8 is available in one gallon or one pint cans, for convenient application by roller, spray gun, or brush. Approximate coverage, 450 square feet per gallon.

Not all greys are neutral!
A “neutral” grey is not simply a black-white mix, but an equal mixture of all the spectrum (r-o-y-g-b-i-v) colours. A spectrophotometric measurement of such a grey will show it to contain approximately equal amounts of those spectrum colours. Non-neutral greys causing a cold or warm colour shift under differing lighting conditions since they unequal amounts of the spectrum colours.

Why is Neutral Grey specified and recommended for colour viewing?
1. GTI Standard Grey Neutral paints eliminate a symptom known as “simultaneous colour contrast”. For example, a red sample viewed on a blue background has a visible orange cast, while the same red viewed on a yellow background appears slightly purple, this is how simultaneous colour contrast manifests. For the eye to see colour accurately, it is imperative that the surrounding environment be chromatically neutral.

2. GTI Standard Grey Neutral paints minimise “colour pollution” of viewing areas caused by reflections from chromatic surfaces. When D50 or D65 standard illumination is reflected from coloured walls, etc., its colour quality changes significantly, so it is no longer “standard”. The application of a neutral grey can eliminate such colour pollution by providing spectrally neutral surfaces around the viewing area.

minimatcher series, various sizes

GTI Minimatcher seriesIdeal for product manufacturers, digital photographers and designers etc. those users who want a better way of illuminating products accurately. Accurate viewing of objects such as products and packs is plainly important in the design process but is also very important for photographers when working (partly because studio flash "modelling" lights are not colour balanced - they do not match the flash or daylight used to actually capture an image).
A multi source viewer such as this is also very useful when colour correcting.
I recommend the MM-1e viewing box, which can easily take an A3+/B3 proof. Other sizes are available.
GTI "MiniMatcher" provides, as standard, three spectrally dissimilar sources of illumination to assure accurate visual colour assessment and color comparison as well as easy detection of metamerism*. MiniMatcher is simple to operate, with an individual rocker switch for each source.
A useful elapsed time meter to monitor usage of the daylight source is available as an option.

MM-1e is supplied with three Light Sources as standard:
Artificial Daylight (D65 or D50) (dimmable option for monitor "softproof" matching).
Store Lighting (CWF or TL84) for "in store" product colour assessment
Home Tungsten Lighting (Incandescent A)
Plus a very useful Ultraviolet option (UVA BLB) for optical brightener detection.
Viewing area: 14.25" x 24" x 13.25", 36 cm × 61 cm × 34 cm

Guide prices only, please CONTACT ME, provide a number and I'll call you back, we discount on GTI:
